The Genshin Impact 2.3 Special Program that premiered on November 12, 2021, announced major updates such as upcoming character Banners, new quests, and a variety of themed events. Among these new additions, the 2.3 update brings a unique event titled Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog. This event offers rewards such as Mora, enhancement materials, Primogems, and upon completion, the opportunity to replicate animal companions for the Serenitea Pot.
In addition to Genshin Impact’s story-driven quests and intriguing characters, players are free to enjoy the inclusion of roaming animals in the open world. However, interaction falls short as the player is only able to feed animals in a few, select places. Even in the customizable Serenitea Pot, animal companions are confined within the teapot realm. Open-world companions are possible, as seen with the Mini Seelies from the \”Lost Riches\” event, and more recently, the Shiki Koshou from \”Labyrinth Warriors.\”
In the Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog event, the traveler is contacted by the Bantan Sango Detective Agency through a commission at the Adventurers’ Guild in Genshin Impact. An unknown being has abducted a number of animals in the night, and it is once again up to the traveler to help solve the case. At the site of each hostage camp, players must avoid being seen by the sword-wielding guard dogs known as Canine Bunshin. Players can use the newly acquired Ubiquity Net – which replaces the traveler’s elemental skill – in order to retrieve the stolen animals. Additionally, the skill can be used to momentarily stun the Canine Bunshin if they are alerted or wander too closely. Aside from the use of the Ubiquity Net, players can take advantage of smoke machines and fireworks in order to disguise themselves or create a distraction to lure enemies away.
Genshin Impact 2.3 Opens The Door For Pets In A Future Update
Further along in the investigation, players will be able to discover places called Dens of Thieves. In these places, caged animals will be guarded by opponents such as treasure hoarders. Players will need to defeat these opponents in order to open the cages and rescue the animals. This is similar to the quest on Jinren Island – which contains the initial entryway to one of Inazuma’s most difficult bosses – where players must find all the keys to release the caged dog. Though this time, the player only needs to defeat the surrounding enemies to proceed.
After the Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog event concludes, players will be able to obtain the Omni-Ubiquity Net gadget from related World Quests. Though it is similar to the gadget used in the event, the Omni-Ubiquity Net has been modified with the ability to replicate open-world animals. Players will be able to place these cloned animals in their Serenitea Pot alongside existing dogs, cats, cranes, and boars. With this feature, players do not have to depend on the Teapot Traveling Salesman for new animals to inhabit the realm. The Version 2.3 livestream can be viewed below or here.
Similar to inviting companions to move in, the Omni-Ubiquity Net only requires an extra step. However, there are some limitations to this feature; some creatures cannot be obtained using this method. Players can check the Archive to find which animals can be replicated with this gadget. With the release of the new 2.3 update, Genshin Impact becomes closer to allowing players open-world pet companions.
