With the arrival of the 2.4 version update, Genshin Impact celebrates the Lantern Rite event once more. Players will be able to participate in festival activities such as creating fireworks, playing classic lantern riddle games, and recovering materials from the previously fallen Jade Chamber. In addition to meeting the new characters – Polearm-users Shenhe and Yun Jin in Genshin Impact – players will be given the opportunity to receive a free character.
As with the previous Lantern Rite, players will be able to participate in Prosperous Partnerships, which allows them to invite a 4-star Liyue character to join their roster. Players will first need to complete the Lantern Rite quest “The Stars Inscribe the Year’s Wishes” and gather two forms of event currency. Players will need to trade in this currency for the character of their choice. This currency can also be used to purchase Ningguang’s new event skin.
The 4-star characters available to claim are: Hydro sword-user Xingqiu, Geo Polearm-user Yun Jin, Electro Claymore-user Beidou, Pyro Polearm-user Xiangling, Geo Catalyst-user Ningguang, Pyro Polearm-user Xinyan, Pyro Catalyst-user Yanfei, and Cryo Claymore-user Chongyun. With the many characters to choose from, players may be wondering which character may be the best fit for their team compositions in Genshin Impact. Given that every player’s Character Archive is different, there are characters suited for each individual player and their needs.
Genshin Impact: Xiangling For Strong Pyro DPS & Sub-DPS Capabilities
Xiangling makes her first appearance in Act I: Mondstadt Gastronomy Trip where the Traveler aids the chef in helping her obtain the ingredients needed to cook her renowned dishes. Players can obtain Xiangling for free by completing Floor 3, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss; it is very likely that players may already have her. However, Xiangling becomes more powerful with each Constellation.
With her Elemental Skill, Xiangling is able to summon Guoba, who can auto-lock onto enemies and deal Pyro AoE DMG. Xiangling’s Elemental Burst, Pyronado, summons a large, Pyro cyclone that revolves around the character, inflicting massive Pyro DMG. As one of Genshin Impact’s top Pyro characters, Xiangling makes for a versatile addition to many teams since she is able to keep Pyro inflicted on enemies fairly easily and consistently.
Xiangling is viable to team compositions that prioritize Elemental Reactions such as Vaporize and Melt. For example, a team of Tartaglia, Bennett, Xiangling, and Kazuha would be great for causing Vaporize reactions as Xiangling can apply Pyro the enemies as quickly as they are inflicted with Tartaglia’s Hydro attacks. For newer players, Xiangling can act as a great Pyro DPS character to carry their team if they do not have another, such as Diluc or Hu Tao. Players should pick Xiangling if they need a strong Pyro DPS or sub-DPS character.
Genshin Impact: Xingqiu for S-Tier Hydro Support & Sub-DPS
Xingqiu has been the featured 4-star character alongside popular banners such as Pyro Polearm-user Hu Tao in Genshin Impact. Since the game’s launch, Xingqiu has been featured in a total of five Banners as well as the first Lantern Rite event. It is a likely possibility that players may already have Xingqiu. Similar to Xiangling, Xingqiu – despite being viable at all Constellations – becomes incredibly powerful at C6.
Xingqiu’s Elemental Skill, Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen, allows him to perform two Hydro strikes as well as create Rain Swords that orbit the character. These Rain Swords reduce DMG taken while increasing the character’s resistance to interruption. Xingqiu’s Elemental Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter, creates a Rain Sword attack that syncs with the character’s Normal Attacks. Because of Xingqiu’s skills, he is able to reliably inflict Hydro on enemies, which is incredibly important when it comes to Genshin Impact’s Elemental Reactions.
As one of the best support characters in Genshin Impact, Xingqiu pairs well with strong DPS characters who are able to utilize his Hydro abilities. For example, Diluc and Hu Tao pair well with Xingqiu since they are both Pyro characters who are able to deal massive amounts of DMG with the Vaporize Reaction. Xingqiu can also be paired up with a character such as Cryo sword-user Ayaka in a freeze team composition. Players should pick Xingqiu if they need an S-Tier Hydro support character that can confidently aid their DPS.
Genshin Impact: New Character Yun Jin for Geo & DMG Support
Version 2.4 of Genshin Impact brings the new character Yun Jin, who is a 4-star Geo Polearm-user. As many veteran players may already have most of the 4-Star characters in Genshin Impact, they may be looking for new characters to add to the roster, such as Yun Jin. For those who do not plan to wish on Shenhe and Xiao’s upcoming Banner – where Yun Jin will receive a huge drop-rate boost – players can choose to obtain her at the end of the Lantern Rite event.
Yun Jin is the director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, renowned for her abilities as a singer and performer. Yun Jin’s Elemental Skill, Opening Flourish, is similar to Beidou’s Elemental Skill that allows her to counter attacks with another while remaining shielded. In this case, Yun Jin will unleash a Geo attack as the counter. Yun Jin’s Elemental Skill, Cliffbreaker’s Banner, deals AoE Geo DMG and provides teammates with additional DMG based on Yun Jin’s DEF.
Since Yun Jin is a Geo character, she can be viable on a team with other Geo characters, such as Itto and Gorou in Genshin Impact. Gorou is a Geo support character who adds additional buffs based on the amount of Geo characters in a party, so Yun Jin can be beneficial to those who have Gorou. Yun Jin’s Elemental Burst may also benefit characters who frequently use Normal Attacks as her extra DMG synchronizes with each Normal Attack hit.
Players may pick Yun Jin as their free 4-star character solely because she is a new character to add to the roster. They may also be looking to add another Geo character or Polearm-user to better balance their team. Whether for aesthetic purposes or team composition purposes, Genshin Impact’s Lantern Rite event will allow players to bring their most wanted characters home.
