In a Special Program broadcast dedicated to Genshin Impact Version 2.5, developer miHoYo shared a tease of the Chasm as an explorable area that will join the game in Version 2.6. The Chasm in Genshin Impact constitutes a mostly inaccessible space located near Liyue. In-universe, the locale is best known for its significance to the Liyue nation\’s mining enterprise.
The minimal parts of the Chasm that players can currently explore often prove rich in valuable resources, though not-so-friendly creatures tend to roam about. As such, those who dare venture near the mines would do well to prepare for a scuffle or two ahead of time. In addition to being rich in resources, the Chasm boasts quite an interesting history. The area apparently existed thousands of years ago, forming after a falling star crash-landed on the Genshin Impact continent known as Teyvat. Undoubtedly, the Chasm plays host to many more mysteries and legends that beg to be revealed in one way or another.
Today, February 4, the Genshin Impact Official Twitch account hosted a Special Program centered around Genshin Impact Update 2.5, which goes live in a couple of weeks on Wednesday, February 16. During the live broadcast, developer miHoYo teased future content as well, namely the advent of the Chasm as an explorable locale. The Chasm, expected to launch in Version 2.6, will feature a new location dubbed The Surface, according to Siliconera. Those who venture into the area once it arrives can also anticipate a run-in with the Ruin Serpent, a creature that appears in the following sneak peek concept art shared by Genshin\’s Japanese Twitter page. Check it out in the tweet linked below:

Of course, the Genshin Impact Version 2.5 livestream featured a slew of details about the most imminent update, too. The 2.5 update will notably introduce Kagura\’s Verity as an all-new 5-star weapon, for example. Three new events were also teased, with \”Divine Ingenuity,\” in particular, billed as one that will allow users to design and showcase a Domain of their own. In terms of new characters, Genshin Impact faithful can expect to assume the role of the previously-confirmed Yae Miko.
miHoYo launched Genshin Impact in September 2020, effectively unleashing what would soon become a worldwide phenomenon on PC, console, and mobile devices. The free-to-play action RPG has since generated millions upon millions of dollars for the studio, with the mobile version of Genshin Impact raking in $400 million dollars in revenue within only two months of release. It seems the momentum has yet to slow down, with more coming to the game throughout the year.
