The Best Kokomi Build in Genshin Impact (Weapons, Artifacts, & Talents)

In a few weeks, Genshin Impact players will have the ability to pull for the new 5-Star character, Sangonomiya Kokomi. Introduced in the Inazuma Archon story quest, many players have likely already met the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island and are looking forward to building her.

Kokomi is a 5-Star Hydro Catalyst user from Inazuma whose banner will be available after Baal’s in Genshin Impact Version 2.1. Here are what weapons, artifacts, talents, and team compositions are likely to work best for her.

Kokomi’s kit allows her to be built as either a burst sub-DPS or support healer. These roles require slightly different builds, and players can choose which role they’d like her to take based on what their team needs most.

How to Build Sangonomiya Kokomi in Genshin Impact

Here are all of Kokomi’s abilities in Genshin Impact, and how they work:

Normal Attack: The Shape of Water

Kokomi performs up to three consecutive attacks that take the form of swimming fish and deal Hydro DMG. Her charged attack deals AoE Hydro DMG.

Elemental Skill: Kurage’s Oath

Kokomi summons a jellyfish that heals her allies and deals Hydro DMG to surrounding opponents. The healing scales based on Kokomi’s Max HP.

Elemental Burst: Nereid’s Ascension

Kokomi harnesses the might of Watatsumi, dealing Hydro DMG to surrounding enemies and wrapping her in a Ceremonial Garment. This Garment increases her Normal attack and Elemental Skill DMG and heals party members based on her Max HP.

Genshin Impact 2.0 Kokomi

As both a support healer and sub-DPS unit, Kokomi’s Elemental Burst is extremely important and should take priority when leveling her talents, followed by her Elemental Skill. As a sub-DPS unit, leveling her Normal Attack is also important; however, this is less important when she’s used as just a healer.

Kokomi’s best artifact set varies depending on how she’s built. As a sub-DPS, she runs best with a 4-Piece Heart of Depth set for the 15% Hydro DMG bonus along with the 30% Normal Attack DMG increase after using an Elemental Skill. As a support healer, players can use a 4-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith for a significant increase in HP, which will increase both her attack and healing capabilities. However, players can use a 2-Piece combination of both artifact sets for either build if they prefer.

For artifact stats, players should focus on HP stats, as all of Kokomi’s abilities scale with her Max HP. This means for her artifact sub-stats, players should always prioritize HP% (and Flat HP), along with Energy Recharge and Elemental Mastery. Unlike most other characters, one of Kokomi’s passive abilities decreases her Crit Rate by 100%. Because of this, building Crit Rate or Crit DMG on her is relatively useless.

For her artifact\’s main stats, players are also going to want to focus on HP%. As a healer support unit, players should use an HP% Hourglass and Cup, and either an HP% or Healing Bonus Hat. As a sub-DPS unit, players can also use a Hydro DMG Bonus Cup.

Kokomi\’s best weapon also depends on what role she’s playing. As a sub-DPS, the 5-Star Catalyst Everlasting Moonglow is a great weapon for her because it increases Healing Bonus and Attack DMG based on the character’s Max HP. As a support unit, the 3-Star weapon Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers works very well. The Prototype Amber weapon is also a great option for either build.

Kokomi does a great job at applying the Hydro effect. Because of this, pairing her with teammates who can use Elemental Reactions with Hydro is ideal. Players can pair her with a Cryo Main DPS unit to Freeze enemies, or a Pyro DPS unit to Vaporize enemies.

Kokomi is a character with an incredibly unique build, meaning players may have plenty of unused artifacts and weapons that would work well on her. Her flexibility makes her a character unlike any other and allows her to fit nicely into team compositions other healers might not.
