The Twitter user had helped to translate the information presented and shared that Genshin Impact’s development had cost $100 million USD, making it one of the most expensive video games to develop by far. The numbers surpassed those of other popular video games, including Watch Dogs which had cost around $74 million USD to develop. It was also shared that the game’s expected cost to develop every year would be $200 million USD.

3. The home screen time and music changes based on your device’s time

Upon entering the game, players of Genshin Impact would be greeted by the game’s home screen, featuring an animation before players enter a door and officially play the game. However, a feature rarely noticed by players is the changing of the timing in the game’s home screen.

As shared in a post by Reddit user mw0t, the game’s home screen takes on four different timings – day, noon, night, as well as one which is seemingly the sunrise that appears when players log in between 4 to 5 am. The timing of this feature varies depending on the player’s time of login based on the device’s time.

Founded in the year of 2012, miHoYo is a Chinese video game development and animation studio, responsible for the creation and success of popular video game Genshin Impact. Released in 2020, Genshin Impact had become a favorite among players in the mobile gaming community and the excitement for fans just kept growing, with miHoYo having announced a collaboration with Honkai Impact 3rd, an action role-playing game developed by miHoYo and released in 2016.

The crossover was announced in Honkai Impact 3rd’s 4.9 update stream, with it released on 9 July 2021. The crossover featured Electro archer Fischl and Electro sword-wielding character Keqing from Genshin Impact, with Fischl getting her very own original story in Honkai.

7. Real-world-inspired locations in Genshin Impact

Upon starting your journey in the world of Genshin Impact, you will first begin in the region of Monstadt, also known as the City of Freedom. Progressing further into the Archon Quest will grant you the freedom to explore the various aspects of this beautiful city-state, including the evident European-inspired architecture. Believed to be influenced by locations and cultures of Germany, the designs of the cathedral and houses show close similarities to those in certain parts of Germany as well, Monstadt also happens to mean “Moon City” in German.

While continuing on the Liyue, the Chinese-inspired city-state translates to 璃月, which actually means “Glazed Moon” in Chinese, while miHoYo also offers the name of Jade Moon as an alternative. Confirmed in a Facebook post, the developers mentioned that Liyue is closely related to the Chinese city of Sichuan, known for its unforgivingly spicy food.

8. Genshin Impact’s first anniversary happened on 28 September 2021

On 28 September 2021, Geshin Impact celebrated its first anniversary ever since the game’s release back in September of 2020.

On 16 September, miHoYo released a video on their official YouTube channel, named “Teyvat Adventures Commemorative Video: Travel Anniversary Letter” you can find here, ahead of the game’s first anniversary. Throughout the video, viewers will be taken back in time with a timeline of all the major events of the game for the past year, along with some statistics on players’ performances and achievements.
