Genshin Impact’s Version 2.6 update brings the new region, The Chasm. Alongside this new addition to the map, players will be able to pull for the new playable character, 5-star Hydro Sword-user Kamisato Ayato, along with 5-star Anemo Bow-user Venti and 5-star Cryo Sword-user Kamisato Ayaka for their rerun banners. The Chasm brings new challenges and puzzles that players will need to uncover as they explore.
The Chasm is located near Liyue, to the west of Lisha. Similar to the previously released region of Enkanomiya, the Chasm has a very unique environment, both ecologically and geologically. Due to its high cliffs, the Chasm contains seemingly bottomless canyons that surround the Underground Mines deep within. As the Chasm was once a rich mining location, there is a multitude of cranes left by miners that can be used to aid exploration.
In order to unlock the Chasm in Genshin Impact, players must first complete the World Quest “Surreptitious Seven-Star Seal Sundering.” Once players complete this prerequisite, they will be able to delve into the Chasm and work to uncover the mysteries that await. Players will be able to uncover new mechanisms, terrain, and gameplay that take inspiration from past events but incorporate new challenges.
Genshin Impact 2.6: The Surface of the Chasm Region Gameplay
Because the Chasm’s terrain is vast with towering cliffs and profound depths, players must explore each division with different tactics. Along with the abundance of abandoned cranes, players will be able to use Spoutrocks – a rock that can release pressurized air when stepped on – which will enhance a character’s jumping ability. This ability is similar to the Leaping Boon from Genshin Impact’s Divine Ingenuity event.
The Liyue Qixing has set up magical arrays to guard others against entering the Chasm. To dispel this, players will be able to find and destroy Bedrock Keys that encircle the surface area. Cage-Shaped Geo Formations will fire crystal projectiles when they are activated by a Geogranum. Players will be able to direct these projectiles onto Bedrock Keys by aiming an attack on these Cage-Shaped Geo Formations.
Unique Rock Pillars will also be prevalent in the Chasm. According to legend, these rock pillars endured an ancient battle. Players can attack these rock pillars to release a “resonant quake.” These rock pillars will be important factors when it comes to solving nearby puzzles. Similar to the Unique Rock Pillars, Unique Rocks contain symbols that can guide players to using the correct amount of resonance. These can be activated using Normal Attacks or the Elemental Skill of Genshin Impact’s Geo characters. Additionally, in the Chasm, players should keep an eye out for flat mechanisms that require weight to be activated. These will reveal the direction of nearby chests with the help of a faint, glowing trail.
Genshin Impact’s Chasm: Underground Mines, Mechanisms, & Gadgets
As players delve deeper into the Chasm, they will come into contact with the Underground Mines. The infrastructure is complex, and due to its level of depth, lighting is scarce. Players will be able to combat this darkness with the use of the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget. This gadget only functions in the Underground Mines of the Chasm, and it can be upgraded in order to provide illumination in the darkness. After the Lumenstone Adjuvant has been fully upgraded, the amount of energy, brightness, and range will be increased accordingly.
Lumenlamp devices and Lucklight Flies can be used to recharge the energy of the Lumenstone Adjuvant. Genshin Impact’s Seelies in the Chasm have been mutated due to the environment. These Seelies are able to slowly recharge Lumenstone Adjuvants as well as activate certain mechanisms with its light. Players will also be able to find Lumenspars and Lumenstone Ore, which are materials used to enhance the Lumenstone Adjuvant in exchange for rewards.
When the Lumenstone Adjuvant reaches a specific level, players will be able to utilize its power to destroy Dark Mud and Oozing Concretions. Dark Mud acts as an environmental hazard; characters within this area will gradually lose HP and mobility. In some cases, monsters within Dark Mud will be more powerful. Players must find the Oozing Concretions – which act as an epicenter to Dark Mud – and destroy it using the Lumenstone Adjuvant device with sufficient power.
Genshin Impact 2.6: Creatures and Enemies of the Chasm’s Mines
Similar to Inazuma’s infestation of Rifthounds in Genshin Impact, the Chasm region will contain its own set of unique enemies and creatures. The Ruin Serpent is the new addition to the open-world Bosses. It resembles a serpent created by machine parts, similar to Ruin Guards and Ruin Hunters. The Ruin Serpent will create Oozing Concretions during battle, which players will need to dispel using the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget. This will create advantageous openings for players to successfully conquer this new enemy.
Introduced in Enkanomiya’s latest event in Genshin Impact, “Three Realms Gateway Offering,” Shadowy Husks are new opponents that resemble former shells of warriors in armor. The Chasms contains the Black Serpent Knight: Windcutter, who appears to have similar traits. When their attack lands on a character protected by a shield, they will obtain a buff at the expense of its HP. Players may have to rely on strategic dodging and healers in order to quickly defeat these enemies.
The Chasm offers new creatures for players to capture for their Serenitea Pot in Genshin Impact. Bluethunder Weasels can be found running among the mining tunnels, while Lucklight Flies can be found floating in the depths. Both give a unique blue light, making them fairly easy to spot in the darkness of the Chasm. The third new creature, the Floating Hydro Fungus resembles the open-world enemies, Specters. Unfortunately, players will be unable to capture this creature with the Omni-Ubiquity Net. Additionally, players will be able to find an item called a Starshroom, which will allow players to restore the HP of selected characters upon use. With these new mechanisms and enemies, Genshin Impact players can expect to be challenged during the Chasm’s exploration.
