Genshin Impact fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new playable character, Kamisato Ayato. Ayato is the current head of the Kamisato Clan and the brother of Kamisato Ayaka, a playable Cryo character added in Genshin Impact’s 2.0 update. When the siblings’ parents passed away, Ayato took on governmental duties, while Ayaka served as the face of the Kamisato Clan. It is not yet known what Kamisato Ayato will look like; however, miHoYo treated fans to a voice reveal at the end of Arataki Itto\’s character teaser, stirring up excitement online with AYATO trending on Twitter following the reveal.
From character voice lines in, fans also know that Ayato is acquainted with Thoma, a close friend of his sister, Kamisato Ayaka. Sayu also has a voice line about Ayato, likely because he leads the Shuumatsuban, the ninja organization Sayu is a member of. From these voice lines, it’s made clear that Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact is always very busy fulfilling his role as the head of the Kamisato Clan. Even Sayu, who says she doesn’t know Ayato personally, states “Sounds like he\’s pretty important and super busy most of the time.” In Kamisato Ayaka\’s voice lines and stories, she also talks about how busy her brother is and how she tries to share his workload. Baal, the Raiden Shogun, also mentions Ayato in her voice lines, hinting at his trickery but excusing his past misdeeds due to his position as the leader of one of Inazuma’s most distinguished clans.
In addition to anecdotes from other characters, information about Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact has been datamined alongside Shikanoin Heizou, an Inazuman detective who works for the Tenryou Commission. In a post on Reddit, user KisakiS2IzYWtp shared information and speculation about miHoYo’s plans for Ayato. They speculated that Kamisato Ayato will be a Hydro character, complementing his sister Ayaka\’s Cryo abilities. The user posted allegedly datamined information that suggests Ayato will be a sword user, which would make him only the second Hydro character that wields a sword, after Xingqiu. The leaker theorized that fans won’t see the addition of Kamisato Ayato until Genshin Impact\’s 2.7 update, estimating his release date as April 2022.
Genshin Impact Leaks: Who Is Kamisato Ayato?
A final clue about Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact comes from an unlikely source, an NPC by the name of Nobumori, found in Komore Teahouse in Inazuma City. Nobumori surprisingly reveals that he previously owned a Vision, which he lost, but not as a result of the Vision Hunt Decree as one might expect. Nobumori was a polearm instructor and decided to challenge Ayato to a polearm duel. Despite his training at the Kitain School, Nobumori was no match for the head of the Kamisato Clan, and lost the fight, giving up his Vision to serve the Kamisato Clan as a doorman instead.
While Nobumori’s story may seem sad, he insists that losing his Vision rid him of a heavy burden. He praises and reveres Ayato, saying he not only has excellent swordsmanship but is greatly skilled with a polearm too. This could be a hint that Ayato will wield both a sword and a polearm, similarly to how Genshin Impact\’s Tartaglia (Childe) can switch between his sword and bow. Alternatively, it may only serve as an anecdote to show Ayato’s strength, for he could defeat Nobumori, a polearm instructor, despite his preferred weapon being a sword.
Although little is known about Kamisato Ayato and his release date, fans eagerly await his addition to Genshin Impact. While rumors, speculation, leaks, and datamined information should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s fairly safe to say that Ayato will be a powerful character. While fans may not see Kamisato Ayato added to the game for some time, hopefully, miHoYo will reveal his character model soon, so players can finally put a face to the name (and voice) of the head of Inazuma\’s Kamisato Clan.
