Every character in Genshin Impact has a confirmed birthday, with three characters having their birthdays in April 2022. Genshin Impact celebrates its characters’ birthdays by rewarding its players with Birthday Mail, including the character’s Special Dish. This is the only way for players to receive the Special Dish of a character they do not own, with the exception of some dishes given as rewards for completing Hangout Events. Players do not need to complete a quest or own the characters to receive the birthday gifts in their mailbox, as the only requirement is to log in to Genshin Impact on a playable character’s birthday.
As Genshin Impact is a gacha game, players can spend money to obtain in-game currency used to wish for characters, which can only be acquired through the gacha Wish mechanic. Despite this, many players are free-to-play, enjoying the game without spending money. Unsurprisingly, Genshin Impact\’s free-to-play players rely on in-game gifts and events to help them increase their Adventure Rank and obtain Primogems, the new currency needed to pull for characters. As it’s only possible to obtain a character’s Birthday Mail on the exact day of their birthday, it’s useful for players to know which Genshin Impact characters have birthdays coming up in the next few weeks.
As of March 2022, there are three playable characters in Genshin Impact with birthdays in April. Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy has the first birthday of the month on April 4, remaining true to her birthday in the video game she originated from. Next is Anemo-wielding Adeptus Xiao, whose birthday is on April 17, though his exact year of birth is not known. On the last day of the month, April 30, Mondstadt’s Darknight Hero, Diluc, celebrates his birthday. Xiao and Diluc have each celebrated their birthday once since they were added to Genshin Impact. On the contrary, April 2022 will see Aloy’s first birthday since the Cryo user was added to Genshin Impact as part of an unexpected crossover between the HoYoverse game and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Genshin Impact: Aloy From Horizon Zero Dawn’s Birthday Is April 4
The first Genshin Impact character with a birthday in April is Horizon Zero Dawn\’s Aloy, whose birthday falls on April 4. This stays true to the Horizon video game series where Aloy is the main protagonist, with Aloy\’s birthdate stated as April 4, 3021. Aloy was added to Genshin Impact as a playable character in September 2021, so her birthday has yet to be celebrated in-game. This means that Aloy’s Birthday Mail is not confirmed; however, it’s guaranteed to include her signature Special Dish, Satiety Gel. Satiety Gel is a special food item that players have a chance to obtain when cooking Mint Jelly using Aloy. For players that don\’t own Aloy in Genshin Impact, logging in on her birthday will be the only way to obtain this Special Dish.
Genshin Impact Birthdays: Xiao’s Birthday Is April 17
The second Genshin Impact to have an April birthday is Xiao, with a birthday in the middle of the month, falling on April 17. Xiao is one of the oldest playable characters in the game, with an estimated age of over 2000 years old. Zhongli, the Geo Archon, is the oldest character in the game, at over 6000 years old. Xiao has celebrated his birthday once since he was added as a playable character in Genshin Impact. For Xiao\’s birthday last year, players received a message from Xiao, a gift of 10 Crystal Cores, and one serving of his almond tofu Special Dish, Sweet Dream. Sweet Dream, an attack-boosting dish, can otherwise only be obtained by cooking Almond Tofu with Xiao.
Genshin Impact: Diluc\’s Birthday Is The Last Day Of April
The third playable character in Genshin Impact with a birthday in April is the 5-star Pyro character, and owner of the Dawn Winery, Diluc. Diluc was born on the last day of the month and has celebrated his birthday once since Genshin Impact was released. For Diluc’s birthday last year, players received five drinks of Apple Cider, as well as his Special Dish, Once Upon a Time in Mondstadt. Players can also visit Charles at the Angel’s Share Tavern in Mondstadt, to purchase Apple Cider in Genshin Impact, so they won’t miss out on this food item if they forget to log in on the exact date of Diluc’s birthday. Unfortunately for players who don\’t own Diluc, his Special Dish is much harder to come by.
Currently, the only other way for players to procure Diluc’s Special Dish, Once Upon a Time in Mondstadt, is when cooking Pile ‘Em Up using Diluc, which is only possible if players own the character. Diluc was added to Genshin Impact as a playable character upon the game’s launch in September 2020. Although many of Genshin Impact’s 5-star characters had reruns of their banners in 2021 or 2022, Diluc hasn’t had a rerun since his release, much to the dismay of players who want him.
Although Diluc\’s banner is overdue for a rerun, suggesting one could be coming in 2022, logging in on Diluc’s birthday is the only way for Genshin Impact players who don\’t own Diluc to obtain his Special Dish. While logging in to Genshin Impact for characters’ birthdays isn’t a necessity, players can do so to obtain special food items and additional gifts. Currently, there are three playable characters in Genshin Impact with birthdays in April: Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy, Xiao, and Diluc. With more characters being added in every update, though, it\’s likely that more will be added to the list before April arrives next year.
April 2022 will be the first time Aloy’s birthday has been celebrated since she was added to the game, so her Birthday Mail rewards remain a mystery. Although it will be the second year of birthday celebrations for Xiao and Diluc, the gifts sent to Genshin Impact players have been known to vary, so might be different from 2021\’s Birthday Mail. Players who don’t want to miss out on these rare items should log in on the exact date of the character’s birthday to obtain their Birthday Mail.
