Genshin Impact: New Tartaglia Build Guide for 2.2

Tartaglia is the first character ever to get a second re-run in Genshin Impact. This is a great chance for new players to pull for him, or for players who missed him or weren’t interested before to give him a shot. While Tartaglia has been in the game for a while, there have been new weapons and characters introduced that work better for his kit compared to the ones available during his last run.

Tartaglia, or Childe, is a 5-Star Hydro Bow user from Snezhnaya. As Number 11 of The Fatui Harbingers, his name is highly feared on the battlefield, and his acknowledgment as an A-tier DPS unit certainly reflects that. Here are what weapons, artifacts, talents, and team compositions work best for him.

Childe is unique in that he’s the only unit who can swap between melee and ranged combat in Genshin Impact. His ability to do large amounts of damage with both his Elemental Skill and Burst makes him a fantastic Main DPS, who can work well in several different team compositions.

How to Build Tartaglia in Genshin Impact Version 2.2

Genshin Impact Tartaglia Childe Bow Stance

Here are all of Tartaglia’s abilities, and how they work:

Normal Attack: Cutting Torrent: Performs up to 6 consecutive shots with a bow. These shots become charged with Hydro and deal increased DMG when charged. Charged shots also apply the Riptide status, which deals continuous AoE Hydro DMG over time.Elemental Skill: Raging Tide: Unleashes a set of weaponry made of pure water, and turns his bow into a melee weapon. This weapon deals purely Hydro damage, and applies the Riptide effect. The skill automatically ends after 30 seconds, or once Tartaglia leaves the field. The longer Tartaglia stays in this stance, the longer the CD for the ability is.Elemental Burst: Havoc: Obliteration: Tartaglia deals massive Hydro AoE DMG, and the way the Riptide effect is applied during this attack changes depending on whether he is in his melee stance or not.

The majority of Tartaglia’s damage will be dealt using his Elemental Skill, meaning this talent should take priority over the others. Next, players can focus on his Elemental Burst, followed by his Normal Attack.

Tartaglia with Hydro and Electro symbols in Genshin Impact

Tartaglia’s best artifact set, as a Main DPS, is the same as it was during his original one: a 4-Piece Heart of Depth set. This set gives Tartaglia both a 15% Hydro DMG bonus, and a 30% Normal Attack DMG increase after using an Elemental Skill, making it fit perfectly with Tartaglia’s kit. For artifact stats, players are going to want to go with a standard Main DPS build. This means all his sub-stats should focus on balancing Crit Rate and Crit DMG as high as possible, with a secondary focus on ATK%, followed by Elemental Mastery. For artifact main stats, players should use an ATK%, or Elemental Mastery, Hourglass, Hydro DMG Bonus Cup, and then Crit Rate or Crit DMG Hat, depending on which stat they need more of.

Tartaglia’s best in slot weapon has changed since his previous banner runs. Currently, most players agree the 5-Star bow Polar Star is Tartaglia’s best weapon. This Genshin Impact bow has a Crit Rate sub-stat, and increases Elemental Skill and Burst DMG by 12% to 24% (this increases as the bow is leveled up), and increases his ATK from 10% to 48% any time he lands an attack on an enemy. This bow can give Childe an insane damage increase if leveled up. Many Genshin Impact players also praise the 5-Star bow Thundering Pulse on Tartaglia. This bow gives him a relatively similar damage boost. It has a Crit DMG bonus effect, and stacks increased ATK% as Tartaglia hits opponents.

For teammates, there are many characters Tartaglia fights along well with. Characters who don’t need to be on the field to deal damage work as great support units. This makes Baal an incredibly useful support, with her ability to proc Electro-Charged reactions as Tartaglia is on the field. Xiangling, Ganyu, Kazuha, and Hu Tao are other characters that have abilities and timings that work well with Childe.

Tartaglia has been a consistently great unit since his release, and new weapons and characters have enabled him to perform even better on the battlefield. His unique abilities and fun character design make him a great addition to any account, so players who didn’t pull for him before should definitely consider it now.
