When it comes to the antagonists of Genshin Impact’s main storyline, the Eleven Fatui Harbingers prove to be worthy adversaries. In addition to the Eleventh Harbinger, Tartaglia and the Sixth Harbinger, Scaramouche, Genshin Impact’s La Signora is fierce and loyal in her goal to serve the Tsaritsa. However, similar to the other known Harbingers, Signora did not begin her journey as many had known her in the Fatui.
[Warning: Spoilers for Genshin Impact’s main story below.]
Signora is the first Harbinger to appear to the traveler in Act 3 of the Prologue after the Holy Lyre der Himmel is returned to Mondstadt’s Cathedral. She ambushes the Traveler, leaving Venti – who is actually the Anemo Archon, Barbatos – vulnerable to attack. After exchanging taunts, Signora rips Venti’s Gnosis out of his chest before disappearing. Signora reappears in Act 3 of Chapter I to claim the Gnosis from Zhongli – the mortal vessel of the Geo Archon, Morax – as per their contract.
Signora makes her last appearance in Chapter II of the main story, where the traveler finds her within Tenshukaku with Genshin Impact’s Raiden Shogun. It is here that the traveler discovers Signora’s involvement with the rise of the Vision Hunt Decree and the Fatui’s distribution of deadly Delusions. After losing a duel with the traveler, Signora is executed by the Raiden Shogun, leaving only ashes in her remains.
Genshin Impact: Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter, AKA La Signora, “The Fair Lady”
Genshin Impact’s Crimson Witch Artifact set pertains to La Signora, otherwise known by her real name: Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter. Before her time in the Fatui, Rosalyne – originally from Mondstadt almost 500 years ago – traveled to Sumeru to study at an academy better suited for her desired area of knowledge. To aid her journey, she was given a Hydro timepiece by Rostam, a member of Genshin Impact’s Knights of Favonius whom she had fallen in mutual love with. However, upon her return to Mondstadt, she discovered that his life had been claimed by the cataclysm that struck.
Consumed by devastation, Rosalyne burned away her old life along with her mortal body, and from the ashes, the Crimson Witch of Flame was born. The Crimson Witch’s sole purpose was to burn away all the monsters of the world. The Crimson Witch’s vengeful flames had only harmed the monsters that caused nothing but pain, yet the people acted in fear and drove her away.
As told by the Stainless Bloom of the Pale Flame Artifact set, the theorized First Fatui Harbinger, Pierro, recruited the Crimson Witch into Genshin Impact’s Fatui Harbingers. Sharing the same goal to wipe the darkness from the world, the Crimson Witch steadily earned her place as the Eighth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, La Signora. She would then proceed to carry out the Tsaritsa’s vision by any means necessary, confident in their shared goal.
As the newly added Weekly Boss in Genshin Impact, La Signora’s parting words upon defeat are, “I never asked for redemption… never…” There may have been a part of Signora that clung to her past self, but that part of her had long since burned away. Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter had perished alongside the people and the era lost to the cataclysm. La Signora’s death in Genshin Impact marks the end of the ruthless Eighth Harbinger and the talented apprentice who had only wanted to save others.
