Given the overwhelming amount of stories, lores and characters in Genshin Impact, not to mention it is still far from finishing its main plot (it’s about to enter chapter II), is an anime adaptation impossible?

My experience with anime adaptations of video games, such as Granblue Fantasy, tells me it is possible to adapt anything to anime, but a lot of information will remain outside of the adaptation, or just make a cameo appearance.

It also depends on the amount of screentime available. An anime with 48+ episodes might be able to handle the main storyline (when Mihoyo actually makes it), while a 12-episode anime definitely wouldn’t. 12 episodes might be enough to tell Mondstadt and Liyue arcs, or even just tell the Mondstadt arc and leave the viewers with the desire to know more (and thus, play the game).
